Merry Christmas, Happy Fourth of July…

July4

Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!  We celebrated this 4th with some quality family time and a neighborhood pancake breakfast.  It was really cute.  All the kids in the neighborhood decorated their bikes and had a bike parade.  I was going to deck Liam’s stroller out, but life just got in the way.

I finally ended my nine month movie strike.  I hadn’t been to the theater since seeing Julie and Julia with my mom the week before Liam was born, but this past week Tom took me to see Eclipse.  It was all his idea so I have to give the man props because I know it wasn’t a movie that he wanted to see.  I enjoyed it much better than the first two movies in the series, although I still don’t think that acting is very good.  I was surprised that Tom offered to take me considering he turned down seeing the A-Teamfor Father’s day even though he had been making me watch reruns on the computer of the original series.  I never knew how campy that show was, although I have to admit that anytime Mr. T says something like, “Don’t you touch my necklace Sucka,” I have to laugh.

We just went to Fresno for the weekend to spend time with Tom’s grandmother.  I had never been to Fresno.  It reminds me of Idaho.  Very flat which made my morning run very laid back!  She just celebrated her 89th birthday, and we thought that Liam time was the perfect gift.  We had a great time with her.  Very relaxing.  She took us to Tahoe Joes one night and I had to let it slip to the server that she just had a birthday.  Her eyes were huge when he brought out this massive slice of cheesecake that took all three of us to finish.  Tom and I are already planning more visits to see Grandma Gibson.  She really enjoyed watching Liam crawl around the house, and he really enjoyed playing with her recliner and television stand.

Liam is getting better at gumming solid foods.  He still doesn’t have any teeth, but he handles Cheerios and yogurt puffs like a champ.  He also loves cheese and baby yogurt.  Grandpa bought some goldfish crackers, and I have to give them to Liam one at a time otherwise they all go into the mouth only to be coughed back out because he chokes.  He still hasn’t mastered pacing himself.   He is getting into everything lately from the dog bowl to the dirt.  The other day I was helping Mel pick blueberries and I looked over to see Liam shoving a handful of mulch into his mouth!  Boys will be boys!

I posted some video of Liam’s reaction to his play yard.  I don’t understand it.  He has the entire living room to play in, but can’t stand to be inside the gate.  It causes instant tears.  Sort of mean, but Tom and I get a kick out of his reaction.  Enjoy!
