Liam and I went to Disneyland with Katie and Karl and had a blast. Besides the hot weather, it was a really fun trip. I have never before had the opportunity to spend so much time with Katie without the rest of my family and it was so nice to get to talk to her and know what is going on in her life. I am so happy that she has moved to Cali and I am no longer the lone wolf Schirtzinger chick on the west coast. It was fun to see Liam at the park. He wasn’t too thrilled about some of the rides like Peter Pan’s Flight where he cried the entire time or Dumbo where he held onto me for dear life, but he loved It’s a Small World and the Tarzan tree house. It was limitless steps for him to climb so I had a feeling it would be his favorite.
He decided to fall asleep in line for Pirates of the Caribbean and slept through the entire thing cannon fire, pillaging, plundering and all.
He also loved the fountains and where there was a fountain, we were sure to check it out for a good 20 minutes.
Karl did great and I loved going on rides with him because he got so into them. He would shout directions at the ride just like he does when he is a backseat driver! That kid is a thrill seeker!
It was a great trip to SoCal although we got to see all the smog down there and I couldn’t imagine living in all that traffic. Our hotel was next to a Medieval Times and I wanted to go so badly so that I could act out my favorite scene from Cable Guy (I have a king’s thirst for the frosty brew…Can I have your skin….Silence of the Lambs…..BA RAH BA RAH BA RAH!!!!) I could go on but I will spare you. We didn’t go though because we stayed at the parks till they closed each day. I did get my once-a-year corndog and it was AMAZING. I mean, if you are going to only eat one corndog a year, you have to make it a Disneyland corndog. They really know how to do deep fat fried meat and bread on a stick.
Best Disneyland Moment (besides my corndog experience): While Katie and Karl were riding Soarin’, Liam decided he wanted to go walking so I put his little backpack harness on him. He then decided that he wanted to walk Emi, so for 20 minutes we walked around with me walking my toddler while he is walking a big black lab. I can’t tell you how many people stopped to watch and I didn’t have a camera. Not that I could have used it with my hands so full.
Worst Disneyland Moment (besides looking down at my plate after my corndog was all gone): Using Karl and his assistance pass that got us to the front of the line for purely selfish reasons. They have a place called Fairy Princess Faire where they always have three princesses waiting to take pictures and sign autographs. The problem is that they are hidden behind a huge wall and the attendants aren’t allowed to tell you which princesses they are. Using the assistance pass, I got us to the front of the line because I wanted to see Snow White. Karl couldn’t have cared less about the princesses (while I, a 31 year-old adult jumps in front of children for a chance to see Snow White). Karma got me though, and we ended up seeing Tiana, Cinderella and Ariel. Serves me right. I have serious issues!
We made it home exhausted and safe and are now back into the swing of life.
I was able to celebrate my second Mother’s Day since Liam was born and I was overwhelmed with how thankful I am to have such a beautiful and wonderful little boy. We had dinner at Tom’s parent’s house and things worked out that his grandmother was able to be there so there were three generations of Gibson gals. I am so blessed to be Liam’s mommy and can’t wait to celebrate more Mother’s days with him.

The day had just started and already he looked exhausted

Making fish faces on the monorail

Running across the tree house bridge

Katie and Emi rockin the Jack Sparrow look. Poor dog

It's not Disneyland without a Mickey Mouse sucker...

...and a Mickey ice cream bar

Liam didn't know what he thought of Mickey Mouse. He clung to me like a spider monkey.

Not the best pic but thought it was appropriate

Katie flying solo on Dumbo. What you can't see is Emi the dog is lying at her feet.
